This Week In History

 
August 24, 1987- A military jury in Quantico, Va., sentenced Marine Sgt. Clayton Lonetree to 30 years in prison for disclosing U.S. secrets to the Soviet Union. 
 
August 25, 1944 - After more than four years of Nazi occupation, Paris is liberated by the French 2nd Armored Division and the U.S. 4th Infantry Division. 
 
August 26, 1862-  The stage is set for the Second Battle of Bull Run on this day when Confederate cavalry under General Fitzhugh Lee enter Manassas Junction and capture the rail center.
 
August 27, 1776 - The Americans were defeated by the British at the Battle of Long Island, New York. The American forces, composed of Continental Line and militia regiments from several states, attempted to hold back a well coordinated attack by the British Army. 
 
August 28, 1997 -  US troops clashed with Bosnian Serbs in Brcko. NATO forces rescued some 50 besieged UN police monitors as crowds, opposed to Pres. Plavsic, demanded the expulsion of Western peacekeepers.
August 29, 1944 - The United States government gives official recognition to the Polish Home Army.
 
August 30, 2003 -  In Operation Mountain Viper, the United States Army and the Afghan National Army (nearly 1000 in number) worked together into early September, 2003, to uncover hundreds of suspected Taliban rebels dug into the mountains of Daychopan district, Zabul province, Afghanistan.

Thank you for your participation with Veterans' Outreach's Mission!  As free Americans, it is our duty to "honor and serve" as many veterans as possible.  Over the last decade Veterans' Outreach has helped  veterans thousands of times.  The next decade we hope to help veterans over 100,000 times!  This ambitious directive lies in your hands and your heart.  Our members collective passion and team spirit will strengthen Veterans' Outreach Programs as we grow through our membership.  We thank you for your involvement and your support.  Our veterans need you...now and always!

Membership Drive

 Anyone can sign up to be a member. It is free! Everyone is automatically entered into a $25 monthly cash drawing.  If you would like to be a Sponsoring Member, you can pledge a weekly, monthly, or yearly offering.  You also can make a single donation. PayPal has many ways to set up payment for you, credit card(credit/debit) or electronic checking.

Membership Ranking

Veterans' Outreach would like to offer ranks for the strongest supporters, like the military does by offering promotions from Private to General. Your rank will reflect your strength as an ongoing supporter. Your rank will automatically change as your periodic donations accumulate, during the life of your membership. Member's Activity

Our site is a work in progress.  Members will be able to purchase unique products from our Depot.  You will be able to take part of our AUCTION where you can bid on items or have items bid on.  You will be able to download music from our Music Gallery, get involved with important topics, submit a story for our News Journal, visit our Internet WAR Museum, or post a loved one in our Tribute Hall .  Enjoy the site and we hope that you make it yours by becoming a member!
